{"id":4121,"date":"2018-07-25T14:52:10","date_gmt":"2018-07-25T14:52:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.paymentfacilitator.com\/?p=4121"},"modified":"2022-02-24T22:16:30","modified_gmt":"2022-02-24T22:16:30","slug":"pf-payu-beefing-up-cross-border-payments-with-acquisition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/infinicept.com\/payment-facilitator\/archive\/pf-payu-beefing-up-cross-border-payments-with-acquisition\/","title":{"rendered":"PF PayU Beefing up Cross-Border Payments with Acquisition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Citing enormous opportunity in cross-border payments, payments provider PayU <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.payu.com\/press\/payu-acquires-israeli-payment-technology-provider-zooz\"><strong>announced<\/strong><\/a><strong> this week that it plans to acquire Israeli technology provider ZOOZ.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Headquartered in The Netherlands, <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.payu.com\/\">PayU<\/a> says it supports more than 300,000 merchants in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The company also operates as a payment facilitator. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zooz.com\/\">ZOOZ<\/a> bills itself as an \u201copen payments platform\u201d that enables merchants to offer alternative local payment methods in addition to global brands.<\/p>\n<p>PayU said that its vision of the combined company includes plans to build a modular platform to support global payments.<\/p>\n<p>The two companies have worked together for a year, with ZOOZ designing a platform based on PayU\u2019s payments infrastructure called PayU Hub.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPayU is one of the most active investors in the fintech space and we are always looking for opportunities to innovate and support our merchant clients to grow,\u201d Laurent le Moal, CEO of PayU, said in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s announcement is a great illustration of this philosophy in action and we are pleased to be welcoming the ZOOZ team further into the PayU fold. By working together to create the first \u2018Payment OS\u2019 platform we will advance PayU\u2019s mission to help build a world without financial borders\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company cited an Accenture report that estimates the market for cross-border payments will reach $994 billion in two years, with two-thirds of the activity within \u201chigh-growth\u201d markets such as Asia and Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, another cross-border payments technology provider, PPRO, announced it had received an investment from PayPal.
