They\nnow can sell in multiple currencies, providing a more localized experience for\ntheir customers, while accepting payment for the sale in their own currency.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new ability automatically shows consumers the price of\nan item in their own currency, within the currencies the seller chooses to enable.\nThe feature is available as part of Shopify Plus, the company\u2019s international\necommerce solution. The Shopify Plus platform is geared to reducing complexity\nfor merchants that want to sell globally, the company said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Shopify, nearly all \u2013 92% \u2013 of buyers prefer to\nshop in their own currency. And while it\u2019s a preference for many, 33% of buyers\nwill actually abandon a purchase if pricing is only available in U.S. dollars. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the multicurrency feature, sellers can be more\nflexible, the company said, adding or removing currencies more easily as they\nchoose to enter and leave markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the company, the feature automatically takes\nthe store\u2019s price and multiplies it by the currency\u2019s current exchange rate and\nfee for the amount it displays for the customer. It then rounds the price\naccording to that currency\u2019s rules. The feature provides the seller with a\nsimilar amount to what they would receive for an order made in their own\ncurrency. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The multicurrency feature can be applied to prices across\nthe site, including products but also things like taxes, discounts and\nshipping, Shopify said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWith Shopify Payments\u2019 multi-currency solution, it has\nnever been easier or faster to scale globally,\u201d David Cameron, a Shopify Plus\nproduct manager, said in a statement on the company\u2019s web site. \u201cNot only can\nbrands now sell confidently all over the world but they can do so knowing\nthey\u2019re providing the type of customer experience today\u2019s consumer demands.\u201d <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This week, ecommerce provider Shopify introduced a new feature for its international sellers.
